US Bus 51 between East Eldorado Street (US 36) and East Pershing Road (IL 121)

PTB 195-048 (Work Order#1): Greene & Bradford, Inc. provided Phase I & II service to Illinois Department of Transportation for performing traffic capacity analysis and traffic data collection along Northbound US Bus 51 in Decatur between its intersections with East Eldorado Street (US 36) and East Pershing Road (IL 121). The project is analyzed by performing a multiperiod capacity analysis using the Highway Capacity Software, and simulation assistance is done with the use of Synchro/SimTraffic software. MioVision devices are used for data collection and the 24-hour counts for each intersection were collected including the vehicular turning movements, bicycles, and pedestrian volumes at each intersection. The study looks at the impact to the flow of traffic by reducing the number of vehicular lanes in the project corridor to build a bike path. Plan view maps will be prepared to show the project area and the analysis will be computed for AM and PM Peak hours for the Year 2020 Baseline, Year 2045 No-Build Analysis & Year 2045 Build Analysis.
